A trip to Ontario’s lake country
Lake life is the best life
Life moves slower on the lake—don’t you think?
I like it slow. By nature, my career choice typically forces me to move through life fast, do all the things before 5pm, and maybe a little more afterwards. I’m still working on regaining balance (one of my big goals for 2019), but for now I’ll take the quiet time at the lake, where the WiFi is non-existent and sometimes my data cuts out too.
Growing up, I spent summers here. Now, the water comes naturally. I brace my body against the waves with ease because I’ve been here so many times before. I’m proud of it actually, and I have my parents to thank for all the memories and lessons and experiences. These little things we don’t think about when we’re young.
We’re a mix of genetics, relationships, and experiences. Who would I be if I didn’t spend so much time here as a kid? I don’t know. Do you ever wonder the same?
Every view; every interaction; every sun ray and wave and feeling brought us from that moment to here and it’s impossible to know what we would be like as people if we lived a different life.
Canada Day in Orillia, Ontario
We spent Canada Day weekend with my family, which included visits with old friends and a trip through Trent Severn Lock 42 to grab a beer at Lauderdale Point Marina. My parents reminded me that as a kid I would search for bugs between the wooden panels of the docks at this marina—a lifetime ago when I was really good at finding fun around ever corner.
All last weekend evenings closed with sunsets I’ll never outgrow and family time around the campfire. It’s such a special place to me that I don’t usually take many photos here. I try to keep my phone away, but this time I wanted to share the magic with you. Isn’t it peaceful?
Side note: Would you be interested in recommendations for places to adventure, eat, and play when travelling to the area? I can make that happen if you’re curious!
Where do you find your quiet moments?
Where do you go for the quiet moments? The magical little in-betweens? That place where your soul rests and unwinds after a long week, month, or year? As entrepreneurs—heck, as humans—we all need a space that’s free from the constant daily buzz. This is mine. Will you tell me about yours?
Thanks for reading, friends.
